TJ took a beautiful 50" broomed Marco Polo sheep today! They spotted some rams from camp first thing in the morning. The rams were headed up into some cliffs a few thousand feet above them. With blizzard conditions, they set off to make a play on the sheep but they disappeared. During their hunt for the rams they spotted a great Ibex in a basin. Since one of the other hunters was hunting Ibex, they made the decision to take the Ibex in the hopes that it might spook out the Marco Polo rams. Sadly that plan didn't work out and they continued their search for the elusive rams. All of a sudden two great rams popped into sight at a mere 250 yards. TJ said they were both almost identical so he just picked one and took the shot. He said it ran about 400 yards and ended up expiring only 50 yards from the Ibex.
The weather has been blizzard conditions with temperatures averaging -10/-15 C. The terrain is really steep, with lots of cliffs and avalanche shutes. They are camped at approximately 9,000 feet and he said they took his ram at approximately 12,000 feet.
Keep checking out the blog because TJ still has yet to get his mid-asian Ibex.
It sounds like it has been quite the adventure!

Great job TJ. I'm sure the tall tales will only get better while we wait for the telling.
