Finally!

Well, after 5 years and several different approaches, I finally made it into a hidden basin that I've long wanted to see. While not great sheep country, it's definitely a place some rams could hide out for a few weeks when the pressure is on. There was a lot of sheep sign and it's a spot definitely worth checking out again. It definitely wouldn't get much pressure.

Renovation Realities

In our "spare" time, we've decided to renonvate the kitchen, begining with new cupboards. After scouring the kitchen renovation stores, we couldn't find a style we liked so we decided to try and tackle the job ourselves, despite not being carpenters. So far so good. Nothing is happening fast but we are really pleased with results. After the cupboards, we'll do granite counter tops, stainless appliances and a few other custom touches. It's nice to be able to work on this slowly without too much disruption to the kitchen at one time. We call the style....primitive arts and crafts. That's right, all of the minor little flaws are part of the style :D

New Argo Avenger HDi SE!

I picked up the new Argo in Edmonton from Doug Lambley the Argo guru at Argyle Motor sports. The next day Sandi and I wasted no time getting the new machine wet and muddy. The ride on the SE is spectacular with the new seating. Even through water levels are low and the acres of exposed super saturated mud is the biggest trap for the unwary since the La Brea Tar Pits we made out well and had a very enjoyable day in the sunshine with the new Avenger. 

Redneck Decorating

Rather than changing the furniture around in the house, we decided to move some of the taxidermy around to give the old shack a new look. We think things turned out pretty well.

Another Great Day in the Mountains

Yesterday was an incredible day for a hike in the mountains and Vanessa and I took advantage of it and did a trip to K-Country. All our hard work is starting to pay off and we climed the 2,500 foot mountain in under two hours. Jet still thought we were way too slow,.

We saw over 20 wild horses and had a bighorn ram walk right up to us. Other than sunburned ears, we had a great day.

Like a Kid at Christmas

When my new wall tent from Deluxe Wall Tents showed up on Saturday, I couldn't wait to get it set up and check it out. I'm sure the neighbours thought I was nuts but in short order I had the tent up in the back yard. Perry does an incredible job making these tents and no detail is missed. Utilizing the internal frame that came with the tent, I had it set up in about 20 minutes by myself. It was so easy to set up and the front porch is an awesome addition. These are without question the nicest wall tent I've ever been in. Now I can't wait to get out camping.

Walleye!

May the first and the lake is open and it was time top try our luck. We were out for 5 hours of fishing and caught 9 short walleye 3 keepers including a 21" female and at least 3 dozen pike. The oil was hot 15 minutes after we got home. Oh man that fish was good!
