Tough Day at the Office
Despite several trucks putting 0n several hundred kilometres each, we didn't cut a single fresh cat track today. The snow is melting fast in the +6 degree temps. We'll give it one more try tomorrow morning but it's not looking good.

Conditions getting worse
We got a tiny bit of new snow in one small area but we haven't seen a tom track there yet so not sure it will be of much help...hopefully. There is one area with a big tom in it but the snow conditions are the worst. It's patchy and 5 days old so finding tracks is a miracle although Kyle's buddy Wade found a fresh one this afternoon and we ran a really old female to a tree. Wolves are everywhere too and one of the houndsmen in town lost a dog to a pack yesterday. We found a spot where they badly injured an elk today so it is a bit unnerving letting the dogs go. Two more days!

BC Cougar Hunt - Day 3
We had an absolutely amazing day today. The day started out finding a really cold cougar track. After a bit of searching we saw some ravens circling below and decided to take a walk. We ended up finding this cougar kill. We grabbed the dogs and ended up freecasting them at the kill site. Within minutes we heard them light up and the chase was on. Two of the dogs treed a 120 pound old female...next thing we get a phone call...the rest of the dogs have another cat treed. We ran as fast as we could to the other cat...to find out that it was yet another female. What a fun day! I wonder what will happen tomorrow...

Day Two in search of cougars
Put on a ton of miles today but only found three small tracks that were fresh. Found some older tracks from a big tom this afternoon so hopefully we can freshen them up tomorrow.

Cougar Hunting
Our first day hunting in BC with friends Kyle and Justin was a good one despite poor snow conditions. We cut a big track early in the morning and put the dogs on it shortly after sunrise. They treed the Tom within a mile but unfortunately his feet were much bigger than he was so we left him in the tree. We got a bit of snow in the high country this afternoon so hopefully we can find another Tom tomorrow. It's always a good day when you tree a cougar. Early to bed tonight.....3:00am comes early!
