We had the wood stove installed today and it looks incredible. Subfloor is all ripped up at front entry and walls are ready for paint. Things are progressing nicely.

Reno Time Again
After the major reno on our kitchen last year, the living room looked sadly outdated so we are tackling it this spring. We ripped out the old fireplace and are replacing it with a pedestal style wood stove. The wall behind it is being done in cliffstone rock and we are carrying the rock part way around the room in wainscot fashion. The trashy white banister and railing are going and being replaced with log and tempered glass panels. The carpet is going and new wide plank hickory is going in and of course we'll be doing new paint, oak trim and a cool tile job at the front door. Here's a look at the wall where the wood stove is going.

Our New Addition to the Family Comes Home
Meet Eli, yet another bird dog in need of a home. Sandi has a soft spot for bird dogs (we already have 2 GSP we adopted). Eli is a Weimaraner and a big lad. He is 14 months old and 85 pounds. He is a little chunky and will probably sleek out around 70 or 75 but still large and especially husky for the breed. He is easy going, happy and adorable and has been raised by a lady. He is VERY much Sandi's dog. I don't exist if Sandi is around and Eli follows her everywhere.
Eli loves running in the woods out here and can't stay out of the pond. So far the big galoot has fit in very well and other than a little posturing with Fudd our male GSP everything has been very smooth.

Big Gobbler Down
Despite some high winds and poor weather, Vanessa managed to take a great Tom this morning in Southern Alberta. Considering there are less than 20 turkeys killed each year in Alberta, it truly is a feat. Thanks to Jim Clarke for all the help and of course to Hornady for the great new Turkey Loads.
